Peter Josef Heinrichs (born August 13, 1815 in Opladen , Lützenkirchen-Lehn, † April 20, 1892 in Wermelskirchen ) was a German teacher and local history researcher .

After completing the teachers' seminar in Brühl, he had been a teacher in Cologne from 1838. From July 7, 1842, he worked as a teacher at the Catholic school in Wermelskirchen. He ended his professional career on May 1, 1890 after 52 years of activity. Since January 30, 1861, he was married to Maria Catherine Büschel with whom he had seven children.

In 1857 Peter Joseph Heinrichs published a book in brief ; Thinking, language and style exercises printed by Martini & Grüttefien in Elberfeld; Handwriting primer , printed by Julius Schellhoff, Elberfeld; The Union of the Federal States of Jülich. Kleve, Berg, Mark and Ravensberg and their connection with the Brandenburg-Prussian lands under the illustrious family of the Hohenzollern .

He was the owner of the eagle for the Hohenzoller house order and the royal crown order IV class. He received the honors a. a. for his publication on the history of the Bergisches Land in which he described the relationship between the House of Hohenzollern and the Bergisches Grafenhaus. In 1882 he presented a map of the city of Wermelskirchen, with two supplementary maps showing the conceivable state of the village in 885 and 1800. Drawings of the layout of Altenberg Monastery and the first church in Dabringhausen-Grunewald in 1863 followed.

In a small study followed by publication, Heinrichs laid the foundation for the 1000th anniversary of Wermelskirchen in 1885. For this purpose, he relied on information from the Cologne historiographer Aegidius Gelenius in the archive of St. Andreas Abbey. Heinrich's outstanding achievement was the research and publication of the history of Wermelskirchen from 1892. A reprint of these two written publications with the map appeared in 1991 under the title Alt-Wermelskirchen .
