Aegidius Gelenius (born June 10, 1595 in Kempen , † August 24, 1656 in Osnabrück ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and Cologne historiographer from the 17th century.

Ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cologne on March 16, 1619 , he was appointed Titular Bishop of Aureliopolis in Asia and Auxiliary Bishop of the Osnabrück Diocese on November 29, 1655 . He received his episcopal ordination on March 26, 1656, but died shortly afterwards.

His best-known work is the book, published in Cologne in 1645, “Of the admirable, holy and civil greatness of Cologne” ( De admiranda sacra et civili magnitudine Coloniae ).

The Cologne historiographer Johannes Gelenius (1585–1631) was his brother.
