Peter Kreutz grew in Gütersloh, the son of the church musician Hermann Kreutz and studied after high school at the Academy of Music Detmold the subjects piano and singing with Renate Kretschmar-Fischer and Helmut Kretschmar . After passing his exams with distinction, Kreutz devoted himself primarily to the field of song composition and won numerous prizes in international competitions. These include the ARD music competition in Munich and the Dutch music competition in 's-Hertogenbosch .

In 1988 Kreutz won first prize in the song duo competition of the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI), two years later he was awarded as a song pianist at the German Music Competition and included in the " Federal Selection of Concerts of Young Artists ".

Peter Kreutz can be heard in concerts in numerous European countries, he appeared several times at the “ Kissinger Sommer ” and the “Gustav Mahler Weeks” in Toblach, Italy . The ZDF and Dutch television made television productions with him. Kreutz is represented in the CD trade with recordings of Brahms songs, songs from the 19th and 20th centuries and works by Antonín Dvořák .

Kreutz has been teaching song design at the Detmold University of Music since 1988 . Here he was appointed professor in 2004. He is the artistic director of the “Forum Lied” concert series in Gütersloh and for many years was the head of the piano department at the music school for the Gütersloh district.

Kreutz lives in Gütersloh.
