Peter M. Already
Peter Martin Schon (born November 10, 1912 in Kastel-Staadt , † December 3, 1985 in Stolberg (Rhineland) ) was a German Romanist .
Life
Already studied Romance and German in Frankfurt, Munich, Bordeaux and Cologne. He received his doctorate in 1942 under Fritz Schalk in Cologne with preliminary forms of the essay in antiquity and humanism. A contribution to the genesis of the essays by Montaigne (rewritten from memory after the loss of the manuscript during the war and published in Wiesbaden in 1954). Already in 1958 he completed his habilitation in Mainz with Edmund Schramm with studies on the style of early French prose (Robert de Clari, Geoffroy de Villehardouin, Henri de Valenciennes) (Frankfurt a. M. 1960) and became scientific advisor and professor in 1962. In 1966 he was appointed full professor at RWTH Aachen University, where he set up the Institute for Romance Philology. He retired in 1982, but taught until 1985. He was Officier des Palmes Académiques (1971).
