Michael Ikrath (born May 10, 1953 in Linz ) is an Austrian bank manager and politician ( ÖVP ).

Professional background

Michael Ikrath completed after graduation and the reserve officer training at the Armed Forces studying law in Vienna . From 1982 to 1983 he was responsible for socio-political issues in the staff department of the General Secretary of the Federation of Industrialists . At the same time he worked as political secretary for the ÖVP general secretary Michael Graff . In 1984 Michael Ikrath moved to Henkel Austria as product manager .

In 1985 he switched to the banking sector. Michael Ikrath worked for GiroCredit Bank AG until 1994, among other things, he was head of the “Corporate Policy and Economics” department and head of the “Executive Board Secretariat / Strategic Management / Economics” department.

In 1994 he moved to Erste Österreichische Spar-Casse Bank AG, where Michael Ikrath was the head of the “Management Board Secretariat” department until the merger with GiroCredit . After the merger to form Erste Bank , he took over the area of ​​"Group Communication, Marketing and Savings Banks" from 1997 to 2001 and from 2002 headed the expanded area of ​​"Group Communication and corporate affairs". Michael Ikrath has been on the board since 1999 and was appointed General Secretary of the Savings Banks Association on March 1, 2004 .

Political functions

Michael Ikrath was sworn in on March 6, 2003 as a member of the ÖVP to the Austrian National Council. He is chairman of the justice committee and deputy chairman of the finance committee. He is responsible for the two parliamentary committees in which the economic and political framework conditions in Austria are significantly shaped.

In addition, he is deputy chairman of the subcommittee of the judicial committee and a member of the national defense committee, the immunity committee and the permanent subcommittees of the national defense committee, the main committee and in ESM matters.

Michael Ikrath has also been the judicial spokesman for the ÖVP since 2012.

As a substitute member, he is a member of the Culture Committee, the Tourism Committee, the Building Committee, the Rules Committee, the Budget Committee and the Standing Subcommittee of the Budget Committee.

In the course of his work as a member of the National Council, Michael Ikrath was also a member of the main committee and the Ombudsman Committee.

Michael Ikrath is a member of the regional executive committee of the ÖVP Vienna and financial officer of the Austrian Economic Association .
