Peter Murtagh

Peter Murtagh (* 1953 in Dublin ) is an Irish journalist and chess author .

In the early 1980s, Murtagh was a security correspondent for the Irish Times . He then worked for the Sunday Times in London until 1985 . He then worked for the Guardian Reporter, then Deputy Head of International Affairs and finally responsible for the newsroom. In 1994 he returned to Ireland and became editor of the Sunday Tribune . In 1996 he returned to the Irish Times .

In 1983 he was awarded the Award for Outstanding Work in Journalism in Ireland ; In 1986 he was named Reporter of The Year in the United Kingdom .
