Peter Norvig

Peter Norvig (born May 12, 1956 ) is an American scientist in the field of artificial intelligence , author and programmer. Norvig currently works as Director of Research at Google Inc.

biography

In 1985, Norvig completed a degree in computer science at the University of Berkeley with a Ph.D. from. He then worked for various startups and Sun Microsystems . From 1998 to 2001 he was the head of the computer science department at NASA's Ames Research Center . He has been working for Google since 2001.

He has been a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery since 2006 . In 2013 he was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

Norvig is also known for the Powerpoint version of the Gettysburg Address , a satire of bad presentations. Norvig's Erdős number is three.
