Peter Wesenauer

Peter Wesenauer ( spelling Peter WesenAuer , * 1966 ) is an Austrian conductor and composer .

Peter Wesenauer studied composition with Boguslav Schäffer and Ennio Morricone and conducting with Michael Gielen , Salvatore Mas Conte and Hans Graf .

Peter Wesenauer has been working as a freelance conductor and composer since 1996 and in the same year he received the Upper Austria Regional Culture Prize for his music theater Schwarzes Gold . Since then he has been a regular guest conductor with numerous renowned orchestras and theaters in Germany and abroad.

In 2003 he made his debut at the Großer Festspielhaus Salzburg and in 2004 at the Wiener Konzerthaus . In 2007 he was appointed conductor of the BBC's European Opera Project St. Kilda . Peter Wesenauer has been chief conductor of the Sinfonietta da Camera Salzburg since 2002 , with which he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2011.

Numerous concert tours have taken Peter Wesenauer to France, Poland, Russia, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, the United Arab Emirates, China and Japan. In addition to his work at the Sinfonietta da Camera Salzburg and various guest conductors, Wesenauer was music director of the Salzkammergut Mozart Festival from 2006 to 2012 . Since 2012 he has been artistic director of the Burghauser Chamber Orchestra and since 2013 of the Hallstatt Classics Festival.

Prizes and awards, etc. a. the first prize in the composition competition of the Prato-Ebensee association with lamentation and the first prize in the composition competition of the Arge Alp (Italy) with Covent Garden round off his artistic activities.
