Peter Wichelhausen

Peter Wichelhausen (* 1663 in Elberfeld ; † 1727 there ) was the mayor of Elberfeld.

Wichelhausen was born the son of Peter Wichelhausen (1629–1703) and Ursula Ossenbeck (1634–1679). He was baptized on New Year's Day 1664. The son of a corner shopkeeper became a successful merchant and in both 1702 and 1705 he was a commoner of the city. From 1707 to 1710, and again in 1719, 1720, 1723 and 1726 he was a council member. In the mayoral election in 1717 he was elected mayor for the first time and was thus city judge in 1718. In the 1724 election he was elected mayor a second time; city ​​judge again the following year.

Wichelhausen married Helena Mühlenkamp (1666-1718) from Duisburg on April 4, 1688 and had five children with her, two of whom died very young.

Wichelhausen died in 1727 and was buried on July 19.
