Wilhelm von Carnap (* 1680 in Elberfeld ; † 1749 there ) was mayor of Elberfeld.

Wilhelm von Carnap was born in 1680 as the son of the multiple mayor Kaspar von Carnap and Maria Teschenmacher. On March 20th he was baptized in Elberfeld. The merchant was first elected mayor of Elberfeld in 1718. The following year he was city judge, again the following year, in 1720 and 1722, he was a member of the city council. In the mayoral election in 1725 he was again mayor of Elberfeld and thus again city judge in 1726. He was on the city council again in 1733. Carnap died in 1749 and was buried on May 6th.

On September 9, 1705 Carnap married Rosina Plücker, a daughter of the Elberfeld merchant and mayor Johannes Plücker . The marriage had twelve children, eight of whom died as children. The only son, Kaspar von Carnap , was elected mayor in 1751.
