Peter Wu Junwei (* 1963 in Taiyuan , Shanxi Province , People's Republic of China ) is Bishop of the Yuncheng Diocese in Shanxi Province, People's Republic of China.

Life

Peter Wu Junwei entered the Minor Seminary in 1982 and was ordained a priest for the Taiyuan Diocese in 1990. After serving as pastor of the Shagou parish from 1991 to 1996, he was entrusted with the management of diocesan affairs. In 2001 he became rector of the Shanxi Seminary. In September 2009 he moved to the Yuncheng diocese and was elected bishop on September 8, 2009.

In 2010 Peter Wu Junwei was appointed bishop in the Yuncheng Diocese, a diocese that was evangelized in the late Ming Dynasty by the Italian Jesuits Giulio Aleni SJ and Alfonso Vagnone SJ. He was ordained bishop in Yuncheng Cathedral on September 21, 2010 by the Bishop of Fenyang, John Huo Cheng ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Beijing, Joseph Li Shan , and the Coadjutor Bishop of Taiyuan, Paul Meng Ningyou, and the Coadjutor Bishop of Yan'an, John Baptist Yang Xiaoting . He was both from Pope Benedict XVI. as also recognized by the Chinese government.
