John Baptist Yang Xiaoting ( Chinese  楊曉亭 ; born April 9, 1964 in the Diocese of Chowchich (Zhouzhi) ) is a Roman Catholic bishop and bishop coadjutor in Yan'an in the central Chinese province of Shaanxi .

Life

John Baptist Yang Xiaoting studied from 1984 to 1989 in the seminary of the Chowchich (Zhouzhi) diocese. Yang was ordained a priest in 1991 and studied at Shaanxi University. After completing a doctorate in theology from 1993 to 1999 at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome , he completed a Masters in Religion and Sociology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 2002

He then worked as a pastor. He founded an education center and was vice rector and dean of studies of the Yan'an seminary. He is on the Board of Directors of the Beijing Institute for the Study of Christianity and Culture (BISCC) .

He received his episcopal ordination on July 15, 2010 in the Catholic Church of Xiaoqiaopan in Jingbian . He was by Pope Benedict XVI. as well as the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association . He is coadjutor of the sick bishop of the Diocese of Yan'an (天主教 延安 教區), Tong Hui .
