Peter van Dievoet (* 1661 in Brussels ; † March 2, 1729 ibid) was a Belgian sculptor .

Life

After an internship in London in Grinling Gibbons' studio , he returned to Belgium, where he created many sculptures for the reconstruction of the Grand-Place / Grote Markt in Brussels.

He was the brother of the goldsmith Philipp van Dievoet , who was a goldsmith and advisor to King Louis XIV .

The last original sculptures by Peter van Dievoet in the Duquesnoy tradition were to be found in Brussels . Many fell victim to the demolition of old buildings (the " Brusselsization ") during the 1960s to the 1980s.
