Peter von Wienhardt (* 1966 in Budapest ) is a German pianist , composer , arranger and conductor of Hungarian origin.

Peter von Wienhardt was born in Budapest in 1966 . At the age of five he took lessons from Láng Etelka at the Budapest Conservatory. His family moved to Germany in 1977, where he continued his studies with Deinhardt and later with Karl-Wilhelm Berger. In 1984 he was admitted to the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts via the gifted test.

In 1994 and 1997, after winning the German Music Competition, he received a scholarship from the German Music Council and worked both as a soloist and as a chamber musician a. a. with Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Eckart Runge and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt participants in the "Federal Selection of Young Artists Concerts".

Since 1998 he has had an intensive concert activity in the USA, which came about through invitation and collaboration with the former leader of the famous Juilliard String Quartet, Robert Mann. In the same year he made his recital debut at Carnegie Hall and the Tokyo Philharmonic Hall and was then invited to tour Japan. After winning the Georg Cziffra Prize at the International Franz Liszt Competition in Paris, he received numerous invitations to perform in Europe, Asia and the United States.

He has won many prizes (including Cziffra-Liszt, Deutscher Musikrat, Echo Klassik, etc.) and has published a number of recordings to this day, both as a soloist as well as with orchestras and with chamber music artists. Wienhardt's peculiarity is to always go to new shores musically. Information, improvisation, recomposition and cadence have not only become part of his life, but also of his music. Life and music are travel and change. His technical and sight reading skills have enabled him to build an enormous repertoire; his artistic interest is therefore increasingly devoted to the less well known works. Since 2006 he has held a professorship for piano and crossover in Münster and is director of the Aaseerenaden Münster. In addition, from 2016 he is the new artistic director of the Internationale Musiktage Mittelrhein and since 2015 in the same position in the classical area of ​​the summer music Xanten.
