The Peters Glacier is a 32 km long valley glacier in Denali National Park on the northwest flank of the Alaska Range in Alaska (USA). The glacier was named after William John Peters (1864–1942), a topographer for the US Geological Survey (USGS).
geography
The average one kilometer wide glacier has its nutrient area on the northern flank of the Kahiltna Dome at an altitude of about 2900 m . From there it flows in a north-easterly direction along the north flank of the Denali north summit , the so-called Wickersham Wall . The 3,231 m high Peters Dome rises north of the glacier . The Jeffery Glacier joins the Peters Glacier on the right. For the last 12 km, the Peters Glacier turns north. It feeds the Muddy River , a 15 km long left tributary of the McKinley River .
