Le Petit Parisien
Le Petit Parisien (The Little Parisian) was the most popular journal of the Third Republic .
The daily first appeared on October 15, 1876. For 20 years it only just survived the tough competition in the press landscape. In October 1901 Eugène Letellier decided to bring out the Petit Parisien with six instead of four pages in order to catch up with his competitor Le Matin . Despite the efforts, the journal did not become the leader.
On June 10, 1940, the newspaper relocated to Bordeaux and returned to Wehrmacht- occupied Paris on October 8 . On February 10, 1941, the German military government transformed the newspaper into a propaganda tool. In 1944 the newspaper was closed for collaboration with the enemy . After the liberation of France, the newspaper appeared again from January 6, 1945 for a few months in Constance , still under the direction of Claude Jeantet.
