The Peto ( Indonesian Danau Peto ) is a lake on the Indonesian island of Roti ( Lesser Sunda Islands ).
geography
The Peto is located south of the hamlet of Peto in the administrative region of Desa Maubesi ( District Red Tengah , Region of Rote Ndao Regency , Province East Nusa Tenggara ). The water level is relatively stable both in the rainy season and in the dry season.
fauna
The Peto is one of the areas where the last specimens of the Chelodina mccordi mccordi , a subspecies of the McCord's snake-necked tortoise, are found . There are no settlements directly on the lake. It is framed by eucalyptus trees , covered by lotus flowers . Here, too, the turtle is on the verge of extinction due to illegal animal trade and loss of habitat.
