Petra ( Greek Πέτρα ( f. Sg. )) Is a village in the municipality of Ziros in the southwest of the Greek region of Epirus , near the city of Filippiada . According to the 2011 Greek census, it had 392 inhabitants.

location

The local community of Petra, located in the extreme south of the municipality of Ziros, borders the municipalities of Arta in the east and Preveza in the west. In the north and northeast, the Louros forms the natural border with the neighboring towns of Stefani and Nea Kerasounda. National road 21 runs here . The village of Petra is in close proximity to the Louros floodplain and the Rodia wetland, which are designated as the core areas of the Amvrakikos wetlands national park.

history

Petra became an independent rural community in 1948 when it was spun off from the rural community of Stefani. With the municipality reform in 1997, this was connected to the former municipality of Filippiada . This in turn was merged with another three municipalities to form the new municipality of Ziros as part of the 2010 administrative reform . Since then, Petra has formed one of nine local communities in the Filippiada parish.
