The Louros ( Greek Λούρος ( m. Sg. )) Is a river in the Greek region of Epirus with a length of about 80 kilometers. It also lends its name to the municipality of Louros and rises in the regional district of Ioannina on the eastern flank of Mount Tomaros , crosses a gorge to the south and crosses into the area of the regional districts of Preveza and Arta , the border of which roughly follows its course. The Louros is the largest river in the Preveza region . It flows northeast of the city of Preveza into the Ambracian Gulf. To the east of the Louros estuary, immediately north of the coast of the Ambracian Gulf, there are extensive lagoons (Limnothalasses), which together represent an important wetland biotope. Most of these lagoons are in the Arta Prefecture. In 2008, the National Park Amvrakikos Wetlands (Εθνικού Πάρκου Υγροτόπων Αμβρακικού) was established. Further south, the Louros flows through the municipalities of Ziros , Arta and Preveza . In the village of Agios Georgios , its water is dammed up to Lake Louros ( 39 ° 15 ′ 42 ″  N , 20 ° 50 ′ 58 ″  E ), a relatively small reservoir with 0.15 km². The water is drained through a tunnel with a length of 1433 m into a hydroelectric power station with an output of 10.3 MW. The power plant is located near Anogiata (gr. Ανωγειατά) in the municipality of Arta.
