Kostandinos Trikoupis

Kostandinos Trikoupis ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Τρικούπης , alternative transcription Konstantinos Trikoupis , * 1857 in Messolongi ; † 1922 in Athens ) was a Greek officer and politician .

Kostandinos Trikoupis was born as the son of Themistoklis Trikoupis in Messolongi. His cousin Charilaos Trikoupis was the seven-time Greek Prime Minister. In 1881 he graduated from the Greek Officers Academy (Scholi Evelpidon) in Athens and served in the artillery of the Greek army . In 1897 Kostandinos Trikoupis fought as an officer in the Greco-Turkish War in Epirus on the Louros ; the battles there ended in favor of the Ottoman army. After the Greek defeat in 1897 and the death of his cousin Charilaos Trikoupis, he took over the leadership of the local Aetolia-Acarnania party. From 1905 to 1906 Kostandinos Trikoupis was Minister of the Navy in the cabinet of Prime Minister Georgios Theotokis and promoted the modernization of the Greek Navy during his tenure . From 1910 until his death he was a member of the Greek National Assembly and the Greek Parliament.
