Petra Stein

Petra Stein (* 1964 in Landsberg am Lech ) is a German social scientist and professor for empirical social research at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg .

Life

Petra Stein studied social and economic sciences at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . From 1993 to 1997 she worked as a research assistant at the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg , where she received her doctorate in 1997 .

She then worked there as a research assistant until 2003. In 2003 she completed her habilitation at the University of Duisburg-Essen , and one year later she was appointed professor for methods of empirical social research and social structure analysis at the University of Tübingen . Also in 2004 she was offered the chair for empirical social research at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
