Petra Tiemann (born December 2, 1958 in Kutenholz ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was from 2008 to 2017 and has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament again since November 2019 .

Life

Petra Tiemann's father was from East Prussia, her mother from Lithuania. In 1979 she passed the state examination as a medical-technical assistant (MTA) and was employed in the Department of Pathology and Histology at the Stade Hospital until 1985. In 1986 she passed the international examination as an MTA and since then has worked as a freelance in medical diagnostics. Tiemann is a member of the Social Association Germany and has been a trainer at VfL Kutenholz for many years. She is married and has two kids.

Tiemann has been a member of the SPD since 2001 and is currently deputy chair of the SPD local association Fredenbeck. She is also a member of the board of directors of the SPD district of North Lower Saxony. Since 2001 she has been a councilor for the Kutenholz community and the Fredenbeck community, where she is the chairwoman of the youth, sports and culture committee. In the 2008 state elections, she entered the state parliament of Lower Saxony via the SPD state list. Petra Tiemann has been chairwoman of the SPD sub-district of Stade since 2008 . On September 11, 2011, she was elected chairwoman of the SPD district of North Lower Saxony. Before that, she was treasurer of the SPD district of North Lower Saxony since September 6, 2008. In the 2013 state elections, Petra Tiemann again entered the Lower Saxony state parliament via the state list. When the SPD parliamentary group was constituted, she was elected deputy chairman of the parliamentary group.

In the state elections in 2017 , Tiemann narrowly missed the state parliament mandate. However, on November 19, 2019, she replaced Uwe Santjer in the state parliament.
