Petrel was a British sounding rocket . Like the Skua 1, the Petrel 1 was launched with three Chick launch rockets. The Petrel 1 was 3.34 m long, had a diameter of 19 centimeters and reached a summit height of 140 kilometers. The Petrel took off for the first time on June 8, 1967 in South Uist . In 1977, an improved version, the Petrel 2, with a peak height of 175 kilometers was used for the first time.
