The Petruskirche is a Protestant church in the Leverkusen district of Bürrig . It belongs to the community of Leverkusen-Küppersteg-Bürrig in the Evangelical Church District of Leverkusen .

The Petruskirche in Bürrig in a newly created residential area is a central building on the floor plan of an equilateral hexagon with a free-standing campanile. The sides of the floor plan have a side length of 14 m, the building is 28 m long and 19 m high. Inside and outside, the church is modeled on a tent, this impression is created by the drawn-down triangular surfaces of the glass walls and the tent-shaped roof.

history

Construction began on October 10, 1957. The church, designed by Helmut Hentrich and Hubert Petschnigg , was inaugurated on October 19, 1958.

The church has been a listed building since March 3, 1995.
