Petter Eide

Petter Eide (born August 15, 1959 ) is a Norwegian association functionary and politician of the Sosialistisk Venstreparti (SV). He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2017 .

Life

Eide grew up in the Skedsmo municipality , and later moved to the Grünerløkka district of Oslo . From 1986 to 1991, Eide worked in the SV party headquarters, among other things as a political secretary. In 1994 he completed his studies in social anthropology at the University of Oslo from. From 2000 to 2007 he was General Secretary of Amnesty International in Norway and in 2007 he was General Secretary of the Norwegian branch of Care International . Then he was the head of the health and aid organization Norsk Folkehjelp until 2011 . Between 2012 and 2013, Eide finally chaired the church organization Kirkens Nødhjelp .

In the 2017 parliamentary elections , Eide entered the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time . There he represents the constituency of Oslo and he became a member of the judiciary committee.
