overview

Rear view of the Peugeot BB1

The BB1 is designed as a compact and agile city car. It offers space for four people, despite its length of only 2.5 meters and width of 1.6 meters. The outer shape is reminiscent of the Smart , but the BB1 is sloping towards the front and the outer surface is largely made of glass. The two motors and the battery are installed in the underbody of the vehicle, which makes the BB1 shorter. In addition, the location of the center of gravity is optimized by installing the motors under the rear seats, especially since the chassis is made of extremely light carbon. The load volume of the trunk is 160 liters. However, if you fold down three of the seats, the volume increases to 855 liters. The BB1 is currently still in the development stage, but series production in the near future is not ruled out.

technology

engine

The BB1 has two wheel hub motors developed in collaboration with Michelin , one of which is attached to one of the rear wheels. Both together generate an output of 15 kW (20 hp). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in seven seconds. Each of the motors generates a torque of 320 Nm. The top speed of the BB1 has not yet been announced by Peugeot.

battery

The BB1 draws its energy from a lithium-ion battery , the capacity of which should be sufficient for up to 120 km.

Technical refinements

For additional energy generation, the BB1 has solar cells on the roof, which are primarily intended to operate the air conditioning and other electrical equipment that is not useful for driving safety. When parked, the BB1 can be pre-cooled by the energy from the solar cells, which is a plus in comfort, especially in summer.
