Pfaffe Lamprecht
Lamprecht called: the priest , was a medieval poet of clergy who lived on the Lower Rhine in the first half of the 12th century . He was the author of the Alexanderlied , which he composed around 1150. Cologne and Regensburg are possible places of origin. The poem is based on a French work by Alberich von Besançon , of which we only have a fragment of the beginning. The work of the priest can be considered the first German-language novel, it counts at the beginning of the early court epic. A connection between the Old and New Testament is established in the plant ( typology ). It has not been preserved in the original. Furthermore, Lamprecht is the poet of a fragmentarily preserved legend of Tobias.
