Pfarrhaus Kirchstrasse 1 (Elsterwerda)
The rectory of the Protestant church at Kirchstrasse 1 is a monument that is located in the small town of Elsterwerda in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg . The building was originally the seat of the new Superintendentur Elsterwerda, which was founded in 1815 and has since been dissolved . Today, in addition to the parish apartment, the local parish office and the seat of the church musician can be found here.
Description and history
The rectory of the Protestant parish church of St. Katharina is a plastered two-story building with a hipped roof, the upper floor being a half-timbered construction. The current building on the site is dated to around 1698.
Its creation at the end of the 17th century was preceded by a devastating city fire on April 9, 1696. In addition to the rectory and the diaconate's apartment, almost the entire city fell victim to the fire. The exception here were the church, the school, two breweries and some houses on Badergässchen.
Renovation work took place around 1900. In 1994 it was extensively restored. In 2015, after a storm damage, the entire roof was re-covered, with it being covered with red, non-gobed beaver tail tiles. In addition, the dormer windows that were originally installed were installed and the wood paneling on the upper floor was given a new coat of paint.
It is recorded in the local monument register under registration number 09135036.
