A cleared parish was assumed for the late 11th and early 12th centuries. The parish was mentioned in a document in 1147 in relation to the Säbnich monastery and from 1162 to Waldhausen. The parish was incorporated into the Waldhausen monastery in 1399 and in 1451 went to the sovereign in exchange with other parishes for Leobendorf in Lower Austria .

architecture

The church is a remarkable four-bay late Gothic hall church.

In 1960 a wall painting of 14 scenes from the life of St. Vitus from the first quarter of the 16th century uncovered. The glass windows in the choir, with Maria and Vitus in the middle and the patron saints on the side, were created by Margret Bilger (1958).

The organ was built by Josef Breinbauer (1848) and repaired by Leopold Breinbauer (1895).
