The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. Anne , belongs to the Hainburg deanery in the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A church was documented in the beginning of the 14th century. In 1429 the church was a branch of Hainburg. The former parish church of St. Peter and Paul was called ruinous in 1773 and demolished in 1787. Using a medieval remnant of a previous church, today's church was built in 1748 and elevated to parish church in 1783. The church was expanded structurally in 1864.

architecture

The rectangular nave shows buttresses and arched windows. The three-storey tower with a medieval corner squaring has a preserved gothic cornice above the first storey. The profiled round-arched west portal on the tower names 1789 and 1864. The upper floors of the tower show a corner pilaster structure and round-arched sound windows, a baroque clock face and a sheet metal pointed helmet.

The interior of the church has a four-bay nave with groin vaults above wall pillars with a semicircular apse. The west gallery is made of wood.

Furnishing

The altars were made around 1900. The high altar with an aedicule structure shows the picture Instruction of Mary from the circle of Martin Johann Schmidt from the second half of the 18th century and bears the neo-Gothic figures of St. Peter and Paul. The side altar shows the image of Mary with child . The simple wooden pulpit was built in 1900.

There is a large crucifix from the first half of the 18th century. The font names 1723.

The organ has a three-part case. Johann A. Christelly mentions a bell in 1763.
