history

A medieval parish is assumed. At times the parish was Protestant. Using masonry from the former medieval church, the church was rebuilt around 1675 and consecrated in 1676 and badly damaged by the Turks in 1683. The reconstruction of the fortified church yard led to the elevation of the community to the market in 1689. After a fire (1737) the church was refurbished. In 1802 a renovation took place with the princely Esterházy master builder Franz Ringer. 1974 was a restoration.

architecture

The four-storey west tower with reinforced edges is late Gothic in essence. The fourth floor with a pyramid helmet was added in 1926/1927. In the lintel of the west portal there is a renovation inscription with the year 1802. The nave and the choir of the same width with a five-eighth end have single stepped buttresses. The north-facing vestibule is marked with the year 1675 on the portal. A two-storey sacristy was added to the south side of the eastern yokes.

On the south side the church shows a relief from the mountains of olives around 1500. On the north side there is a tombstone Rosa Moritzkhin and Lucan Follckhl 1646 with a relief crucifix and two figures. The departure to the lower Karner has the year 1647.

The four-bay nave under a barrel vault with stitch caps stands on pilasters. The three-axis west gallery over a groin vault stands on columns. In the vaulted gallery parapet there is a niche figure of St. Rosalia. At the eastern Langhausjoch the church is extended with altar niches on both sides. The triumphal arch is rounded. The choir has stitch caps.
