history

The church was founded before 1155 by the archdeacon Otakar von Fischau in a still uninhabited forest. A parish church is named for 1161, which was incorporated into Vorau Abbey in 1163. The Romanesque church building has not been preserved. Today's late Gothic church was built around 1500 and was expanded in the late baroque style. 1959 was a complete restoration.
