history

Initially a branch of the mother parish Neukirchen an der Wild, a pastor was appointed in 1347. At the end of the 16th century a vicariate was given to the Jesuits and later reunited with the mother parish. In 1784 the church was elevated to a parish church and incorporated into Altenburg Abbey.

architecture

The initial Romanesque rectangular room with a square north tower from the 13th century was Gothicized in the 15th century. In 1666 the church was redesigned in Baroque style and expanded with a low choir closed on four sides. In 1889/1991 the church was extended to the west and renovated.

The church is surrounded by the former walled churchyard with quarry stone masonry.

Furnishing

The high altar from 1688 has spiral columns covered with vine leaves.

The organ was built by Franz Capek (1914).
