Gschaidt parish church
The Gschaidt parish church is located in the center of Gschaidt in the market town of Hochneukirchen-Gschaidt in the Wiener Neustadt-Land district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. Magdalena , belongs to the Deanery Kirchschlag in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The church was mentioned in a document in 1468 as a branch church of the Zöbern parish church. In 1753 the church suffered a fire. In 1784 the church was elevated to a parish church. The essentially Gothic church was rebuilt and expanded in 1954/1955 according to plans by Anton Kohler and Josef von Bergmann and consecrated with Archbishop-Coadjutor Franz Jachym .
architecture
A slightly indented choir, newly built in 1954/1955 with a straight end, adjoins the simple, essentially Gothic nave, which was extended in 1954/1955 under a steep hipped roof. The square tower, which was erected in the north in 1954/1955 and made of unplastered quarry stone, has a mighty baroque onion dome.
The interior of the nave is a hall with a wooden beam ceiling from 1955, the drawn-in triumphal arch is round, the square choir has a groin vault over simple pilasters. The entrance zone in the nave and the gallery are from 1954/1955. The ornamental stained glass of the windows was done by Emilie Dworsky.
Furnishing
The high altar as a neo-baroque columned retable was created at the end of the 19th century and shows the altar sheet St. Magdalena painted by Josef Keßler (1882). A side altar from the 1930s bears the figures of Anna with Maria and Thaddäus. A late baroque painting of St. Florian and Leonhard in rich framing is from the middle of the 18th century. The Stations of the Cross are from the middle of the 19th century.
