The parish church of Hainfeld is raised in the southwest above the place Hainfeld in the municipality of Hainfeld in the district of Lilienfeld in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to the Apostle Andreas - incorporated into the Göttweig Abbey - belongs to the Lilienfeld dean's office in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church and the former cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The Gothic church was probably built on the site of the older Hainfeld castle stables .

architecture

The church is surrounded by the formerly fortified, partly preserved late medieval quarry stone wall of a former cemetery. To the north, a section of the churchyard wall shows loopholes and the ledge of the former battlement.

The two-aisled church building has a choir with a five-eighth end and has three aisles in the third nave yoke, due to the opening to a southern side chapel. The mighty, well-fortified west tower, visible from afar, is offset to the side in front of the western front and has a stair tower on the side.

Furnishing

The winged high altar shows the pictures of the Mount of Olives and the Crown of Thorns , painted by Ludwig Haase in 1897. The two-row choir stalls are from the middle of the 18th century.

Johann Lachmayr built the organ in 1902 in a three-part neo-Gothic case.
