Parish church Josefsberg
The Roman Catholic parish and pilgrimage church of Josefsberg is located in the village of Josefsberg in the Mitterbach am Erlaufsee municipality in the Lilienfeld district in Lower Austria . The church consecrated to Saint Joseph , incorporated into Lilienfeld Abbey, belongs to the Lilienfeld dean's office in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church building is a listed building .
history
In the mountains in association with the three holy mountains Annaberg - Joachimsberg - Josefsberg, a church of St. Joseph was built in 1644 near a hermitage (No. 8). Adaptations were made in 1733. In 1753 the church was elevated to a parish church and incorporated into Lilienfeld Abbey. The vestibule was added in the 1920s. 1953 was a renovation.
architecture
The high-proportioned, simple hall church has a roof turret on the west side and a just closed choir. The lunette windows are situated high up. The western front and the hipped roof are shingled. The timbered sheet roof turret has a pyramid helmet from the 19th century. The arched portal with a profiled archivolt shows early baroque decor. The sacristy extension is on the south side under a pent roof. A shed is built in the east.
The transverse rectangular nave with a groin vault has a retracted west gallery with a coffered marbled parapet in neo-Renaissance forms from the first half of the 19th century. The retracted choir has a barrel vault with belt arch and profiled fighters and a layered wall structure. The sacristy portal has a bar frame. The sacristy with a needle cap barrel vault with profiled fighters shows decorative paintings.
Between the church and the rectory there is a single-storey connecting wing with a gabled arched portal to the gallery staircase.
Furnishing
The high altar as a monumental, free-standing early baroque column structure with sacrificial portals was adapted in 1760.
