The parish church Krumau am Kamp is located in the southwest corner of the main square on the Kamp River in the market town of Krumau am Kamp in the Krems-Land district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Margaret of Antioch belongs to the deanery Horn in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The parish was founded around 1261 and rebuilt in 1702.

From 1782 to 1789 a new church was built using medieval parts from the 13th and 14th centuries. In the new building, the church was oriented from east to south and given a Baroque style, a new apse was built in the south and the nave was expanded in the north. A tower was built over the preserved Gothic east choir in 1801. The church was renovated in the late 19th century.

architecture

The exterior of the church shows a simple rectangular hall with a mighty east tower. The simple northern gable front has a stone ridge cross and contains several niches with the figures of Anthony and the child at the bottom left, Christ as the Good Shepherd in the middle above the portal, and at the top between two oculi, in turn, Anthony and the child. The squat east tower shows tracery windows of the Gothic choir.

The interior of the church shows itself as a three-bay long house with square vaults on double belts on wall templates with double pilasters and a surrounding entablature. The organ gallery stands on three pillar arches. The retracted south choir has a Platzljoch and a flat arched apse. The tower ground floor shows the Gothic ribbed vault of the former choir. The glass paintings from 1906/1907 show Barbara and Aloysius.

Furnishing

The high altar from 1906/1907 was created by the sculptor Robert Hanel as a baroque column retable with a canopy, it bears the figures of Leopold and Florian and the bust of God the Father, and shows the high altar picture Margarethe by Leander Russ (1842).

The organ was built by Franz Capek (1900).
