Lind-Maßweg parish church
The Lind-Maßweg parish church is located on the church square in the former Kirchweiler Lind in the municipality of Spielberg in the Murtal district in Styria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Martin of Tours belongs to the Deanery Knittelfeld in the diocese of Graz-Seckau . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The church was built in 1103 by Duke Heinrich III. Donated by Carinthia to St. Lambrecht Abbey , which founded a convent with seven brothers in 1155. The church was incorporated into the St. Lambrecht Abbey until 1958.
The Romanesque building received a Gothic choir, the nave was vaulted in Baroque style. In 1955 and 1971 the church was restored inside and 1977 outside.
architecture
The three-bay nave with Romanesque walls at its core was given a baroque groin vault on girders and pillars. The narrowed, ogival Gothic fron arch is joined by a one-bay Gothic choir with a five- eighth end, raised by two steps . The choir has a ribbed vault on consoles, two of them with banners holding busts, two with heraldic shields, at the end of the choir with leaves.
On the north wall of the choir, remarkable Gothic frescoes from the beginning of the 15th century are exposed in two layers in 1971, the lower, older layer is badly damaged, they show Mary with child, saints, crucifixions, apostles with a handkerchief, the upper layer from around 1600 shows the monumental St. Martin. Frescoes on the outside of the north wall of the nave show St. Michael from the beginning of the 18th century, exposed in 1977.
Furnishing
The high altar from the second half of the 17th century was changed in the 19th century. He shows the altarpiece of St. Martin from the end of the 17th century.
The organ from the second half of the 18th century was later changed. Hans Mitter mentions a bell in 1456.
