Parish church of Nüziders
The Roman Catholic parish church of Nüziders is in the parish of Nüziders in Walgau in Vorarlberg . The parish church of Sts. Viktor and St. Markus belongs to the dean's office in Bludenz-Sonnenberg in the diocese of Feldkirch . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .
history
In 881 the parish church came to the cathedral chapter of Chur. The parish was the mother parish of the Klostertal with Innerbraz, Dalaas, Klösterle and Stuben. The church, mentioned in a document in 1485, had a Gothic choir. In 1643 the parish church was incorporated into Einsiedeln Abbey. The nave was built at the end of the 17th century. In 1771/1772 the roof structure was renewed with Josef Vonier. The sacristy (1824) and the tower (1826) were built with Johann Georg Krista. In 1827 the nave was extended and the facade changed. There were restorations in 1913, 1955 and 1975. In 1960 St. Joseph's missionaries took over the parish for a while.
architecture
The church with cemetery is in the north of the village. A Gothic choir closes off the mighty baroque nave with a classical facade. The nave and choir are under a common gable roof.
Furnishing
The high altar by Johann Adam and Johann F. Fuetscher (1767) has a four-column structure with twisted columns and a curved, cranked entablature, on a volute structure the Holy Spirit. The altarpiece of the Assumption of the Virgin is by Melchior Paul von Deschwanden (1874).
