St. Joseph (2012)

The Catholic parish church of St. Josef in the Auen district in Villach was built from 1948 to 1951 according to plans by Max Wochinz and consecrated in 1952. In the same year Auen, which belonged to the parish of St. Martin until 1944 , became an independent parish.

The west facade has a round window and above it a niche with a statue of St. Joseph . The closed vestibule is provided with three arched doors. One above the gable roof rises ridge turret with onion dome . The interior consists of a single-nave hall with a flat ceiling over concrete beams and a semicircular chancel .

The partly baroque interior dates from the 18th century. The high altar consists of a tabernacle and a crucifix above it , flanked by angels. The statues of St. Joseph and a crescent Madonna stand on consoles above the two side altars . In the vestibule there is a statue of Francis of Assisi and a Madonna in a Lourdes grotto under the organ gallery . The organ with Rückpositiv was manufactured by Novak in 1987.
