The Roman Catholic parish church Steinbrunn stands on a hill high above the village in the municipality of Steinbrunn in the Eisenstadt-Umgebung district in Burgenland . The parish church for the discovery of the cross belongs to the dean's office in Eisenstadt in the diocese of Eisenstadt . The church is a listed building .
history
A church was mentioned in documents in 1359. The church was destroyed in the Turkish War (1683) . Rebuilt in 1686, the church was consecrated in 1690. Renovations in the 19th century were followed by interior restoration in 1958/1959 and 1971.
architecture
The church building, which is essentially Gothic, was expanded as an early baroque church. The tower stands free on three sides on the south wall of the nave and has a stone pyramid helmet between low gables. The nave and the choir with a five-eighth closure have two-tiered buttresses. There is a vestibule on the western gable front. The sacristy annex is north on the eastern nave yoke.
The four-bay nave has cross vaults with delicate, double-grooved ribs with a five-pointed rib star above the apse and three disc-shaped and one coat-of-arms-shaped keystone and shows flat pilasters on the walls. The three-axis west gallery over a cross vault has a curved wooden parapet with rococo decor. The west gallery was pulled forward in the shape of a balcony up to the second yoke on both sides.
The cemetery next to the parish church contains a charnel house.
Furnishing
The high altar from 1687 in front of a flat wall with a cranked cornice on two Corinthian columns each and a similarly designed essay in the pediment bears the statues Francis and Antonius below and Peter and Paul above.
