history
Presumably there was already a church in the 9th century, and in 948 a church was supposedly donated to the Archbishop of Salzburg. The church was initially a branch of Bromberg, from 1203 a branch of Edlitz. In a document, a pastor was named in 1248. Presumably a vicariate from the end of the 13th century and subsequently an independent parish.
The initially Romanesque choir square hall church with a southern Romanesque side chapel was extended Gothic. At the end of the 15th century, a late Gothic net rib vault was installed in the central nave, probably with the master builder Sebald Werpacher as part of a conversion to a staggered church. At the end of the 16th century, a barrel vault with rhythmically staggered stitch caps was pulled into the central nave. In 1604 the church suffered a fire, probably during a Hungarian invasion. The roof structure was dendrochronologically dated 1611 and 1624 and completed with a mighty hipped roof by 1654. In 1898 the church received a neo-Gothic interior. In 1990 the interior was restored.
architecture
The Romanesque choir square hall church with a southern Romanesque side chapel has an eastern choir and a high tower in the southeast. The side aisles are Gothic.
Furnishing
The neo-Gothic high altar from 1898 is a three-niche retable and bears the statues of Christ Salvator between the apostles Peter and Paul .
The red marble twelve-sided baptismal font from the 16th century has a lid with the top group Baptism of Christ from the end of the 18th century.
