Wolfgang Heissler

Wolfgang Heissler (born November 4, 1948 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian music teacher , composer and bandmaster .

Life

Wolfgang Heissler studied piano in Munich , conducting in Berlin , Bremen , Vienna (among others with Hans Swarowsky ), composition and music theory in Hamburg .

From 1975 to 1988 he had various engagements in Germany as a theater music director and worked as a music school teacher and lecturer at the University of the Arts in Bremen . In 1980 he founded the chamber ensemble Norddeutscher Kammerkreis , which he directed until 1982.

From 1988 he was initially a lecturer and contract teacher and from 1998 to 2017 he was a full professor for composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

From 2003 to 2013 he was dean of studies for music education courses, 2014/2015 vice rector for studies and teaching. In addition, many years of experience in various academic bodies; Among other things, member of study commissions, university college and senate, chairman of the founding convention. Heissler is the founder and honorary member of the Alumni Network Music Education Vienna .

He was a song accompanist and chamber musician ( pianist ) in numerous concerts as well as a speaker in various advanced training events and courses. His compositions were u. a. listed in Austria , Germany , Switzerland , Italy , Hungary , Ukraine and Taiwan .

Wolfgang Heissler lives in Vienna and has been married to the restorer and artist Elvira Heissler (née Raymann) since 1975 . The couple has three children.
