The Roman Catholic parish church Weikersdorf am Steinfelde is in the municipality of Weikersdorf am Steinfelde in Lower Austria . The parish church of St. Jakobus the Elder belongs to the deanery Wiener Neustadt in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building .

history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1220 as a branch of Fischau ( parish church Bad Fischau-Brunn ). The core of the Romanesque square choir from the first half of the 13th century has been preserved. A pastor was mentioned in a document in 1330. The church went to the Probstei St. Ulrich (?) In Wiener Neustadt around 1475 . The church was damaged in the Turkish War (1683). In 1753, Canon Franz Zeißler carried out a baroque renovation and new building.
