The Roman Catholic parish church of Winzendorf is located north of the old town center of Winzendorf in the market town of Winzendorf-Muthmannsdorf in Lower Austria . The parish church of St. Josef der Arbeiter belongs to the dean's office in Wiener Neustadt in the Archdiocese of Vienna .

history

Around 1952 - next to the old parish church - the Fatima Church was built as a second place of worship; this emergency church was demolished after a property exchange. The new parish church was built in 1971 according to the plans of the architect couple Eva and Karl Mang . The old parish church became the Winzendorf branch church .

architecture

The church building with a square floor plan with a rounded corner is a low-rise building and features clinker bricks and exposed concrete. In the protruding loggia at the entrance portal is a concrete relief, designed by the artist Lydia Roppolt . At the side there is a low bell tower with a sloping roof.

The interior of the church shows itself as a unified space with brick walls and a flat concrete grid ceiling and a black asphalt floor. The grid of the concrete girders was kept visible. The rows of windows are arranged at the top. The room heights were graded according to the importance of the use. The sanctuary acts as an optical center under a light dome in front of a wide corner.

Furnishing

The altar is made of wood. The artist Lydia Roppolt created a tapestry and a cross.
