The parish church of Ybbsitz stands at the northern end of the market square in the market town of Ybbsitz in the Amstetten district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. John the Baptist - incorporated into Seitenstetten Abbey - belongs to the dean's office in Waidhofen an der Ybbs in the diocese of St. Pölten . The church is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A foundation by the Seitenstetten Abbey was mentioned in documents in 1186, and in 1292 as a parish. In 1419 the choir and the altar were consecrated by Bishop Andreas from the Diocese of Passau . In 1480/1496 the nave was rebuilt with the consecration years 1496, 1503, 1508. In 1785 the parish went to the diocese of St. Pölten . 1904/1905 and 1974/1975 were restorations.

architecture

The mighty late Gothic hall church with a Gothic polygonal choir with a slightly set south tower has several extensions.

Furnishing

The high altar around 1740 is a monumental baroque column retable and occupies the entire end of the choir and was transferred here from the church of the Kartause Gaming in 1786 .

The organ was built by the Upper Austrian Orgelbauanstalt in 1972. Caspar Dominik Staffelmayr names one bell in 1836. The Böhler and Co. brothers cast four steel bells in 1921. The baroque sacristy dumpling is a wrought iron work with a gilded floral decoration.
