PFEIFFER & MAY is a wholesale company based in Karlsruhe , which specializes in the distribution of sanitary products and building heating .
history
The company was founded in 1906 as the Klein & Kullmann hardware store by Hermann Klein and Ludwig Kullmann in Karlsruhe. At the beginning of 1938, the Jews Klein and Kullmann began negotiations to sell their company. Eugen Pfeiffer and Adolf May, the head of the company register at the time, were interested. The final purchase price is described by today's Pfeiffer & May SE as "fair" and "acceptable". While Hermann Klein emigrated to what is now Israel in September , Ludwig Kullmann was arrested on the Night of the Crystal and taken to the Dachau concentration camp . He was released after three months and followed Klein to the Palestine region. The company was renamed Pfeiffer & May after the takeover. In 1940 Pfeiffer and May opened a branch in Strasbourg . Although this branch ceased to exist after the war, the sales area could be expanded to the entire region between the Vorderpfalz and the southern Black Forest as early as the early 1950s. 1975 Founding of the GC Group PFEIFFER & MAY dares a big step forward and joins other partners in a nationwide cooperation: the GC-Sanitär- und Heizungs-Handels-Kontor GmbH, short, GC-Gruppe. In addition to PFEIFFER & MAY, the group includes the companies Gienger Munich, Cordes & Graefe Bremen and Gienger GmbH Stuttgart. The GC group now has 85 member companies.
1993 Foundation of PuM AG. Eight years later, in November 2001, PFEIFFER & MAY AG moved into a new administration building with 1,285 square meters of floor space in Unterweingartenfeld 7.

In 2006 the PUM Group celebrates its 100th anniversary. This year the P&M Academy is also founded.
2007 Exit from the GC Group After 30 years of good cooperation, the Pfeiffer & May Group separates from the purchasing association with GC-Sanitär und Heizungs-Handels-Kontor GmbH.
2008 Acquisition of LÖFFELHARDT Tiles With the purchase of the LÖFFELHARDT houses on June 1, 2008, the PFEIFFER & MAY Group added tiles and natural stones to its portfolio and will continue to actively develop this innovative division.
2009 The PFEIFFER & MAY Foundation In September 2009, the non-profit PFEIFFER & MAY Foundation was brought into being in Karlsruhe.
2011 PFEIFFER & MAY - the European SE “A strong group of companies under one roof.” In 2011, PFEIFFER & MAY Wholesale AG is converted into a European stock corporation with the legal form SE.
2012 The eco company P&M Group The Pfeiffer & May Group attaches great importance to the use of renewable energy sources for their buildings. Example from Wiesbaden: There, 220 solar power modules, each 1.64 m² in size, produce over 50,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually on a roof area of around 600 m².
2015 New appearance of the group With the new corporate design, the group says goodbye to the previous logo with the blue bow and goes new and innovative ways with a clear and contemporary design.
The “Badimpulse” exhibition brand is also being developed. The new exhibition brand stands for inspiration, diversity and professionalism. Each location has an individual character, which is reflected in the diversity of the booths presented.
In 2015, the group also expanded to include the LINSS group. At the end of 2015, the P&M Group expanded to include five additional branches of the sanitary and heating wholesaler Walter Linss in the areas around Kassel, Künzell, Erfurt, Malsfeld, Schwabhausen and Heiligenstadt.
2018 certified energy management The new energy management system according to DIN 50001: 2018 is successfully introduced. However, the certification does not mean the end of further development.
