The Pfeiffer & Schmidt oHG (also SPAR Central Hamburg ) was created in 1975 with the merger of the Central Hamburg Süd and Hamburg Nord Spar Handelsgesellschaft (SPAR).

Bernhard Schmidt

In 1890, Bernhard Dietrich Wilhelm Schmidt founded a "colonial goods and fat trade" in Hamburg, which worked as a wholesaler from the mid-1930s. The company "Bernhard Schmidt" joined SPAR in 1958 and formed the "SPAR Headquarters Hamburg-North". This moved to Schenefeld (Pinneberg district) in 1959 . "Bernhard Schmidt" took over the "SPAR Headquarters Bremen " and the SPAR "Headquarters Oldenburg " in 1966 and in 1967 the "SPAR Headquarters Lüneburg ".

W. Pfeiffer & Co

In 1919 the grocery store “W. Pfeiffer & Co ”. This company joined SPAR in 1953 and formed the "SPAR Headquarters Hamburg", which since 1958 has been known as "SPAR Headquarters Hamburg-Süd". This moved to Reinbek in 1962 .
