The Limhamn horse-drawn railway was a narrow-gauge Swedish railway line . It was built by AB Stranden between Limhamn station and Limhamn kallbadhus on Öresund and operated as a horse-drawn tram .

AB stranding

AB Stranden , a Swedish Aktiebolag (Swedish form of public limited company), operated a bathhouse in Limhamn on Öresund . She owned the horse-drawn tram that connected the Limhamn train station with the bathhouse.

In December 1899 the old bath house in Limhamn was destroyed by a storm. This bathhouse attracted many residents of Malmö in the summer and as a result, the number of passengers on the Malmö – Limhamns Järnväg increased seasonally . Therefore the reconstruction of the bathhouse was planned. On January 10, 1900, under the leadership of the engineer Rudolf Fredrik Berg, the AB Stranden company was founded to build a new bathhouse. This was opened in June 1900.

To make it easier for bathers from Malmö to reach the bathhouse on the beach, a single-track horse-drawn tram was opened from the train station in Limhamn to the bathhouse on July 1, 1900, which was also built by AB Stranden . The route led through Öresundsgatan (now part of Limhamnsvägen), over Strandgatan past the bathhouse to the intersection of Strandgatan with Kaptensgatan (now Gustavsgatan).

A siding in Östra Hamngatan (now Idrottsgatan) led to a wagon shed at Viktoriagatan (now Valborgsgatan).

On the line with a track width of 891 mm, two cars were used, those from Ludvig Rössels Mek. Verkstads AB in Arlöv .

The traffic was carried out only during the season from May to September. This seasonal service ended in 1914. On October 9, 1914, the railway facilities were given to the City of Malmö to connect Limhamn to the Malmö tram network. From July 18, 1915, tram line 4 from Limhamn to Möllevången was operated by the former transport company Malmö stads spårvägar (today ML Malmö Trafik AB ) after the corresponding renovation work.
