Arlöv is a settlement in the Swedish province of Skåne län and the capital of Burlöv municipality . Because Arlöv is directly adjacent to Malmö's Centrum district and the development is continuous, according to the definition, Arlöv does not apply to Swedish localities ( Tatort ) as an independent locality, but is statistically included in the locality of Malmö . Arlöv has a good 10,000 inhabitants. For the part of the name - löv , it is assumed that the original meaning was "inherited or inherited good", i.e. good inherited from Ar or Ares (not yet clarified).

New development area in Arlöv

Arlöv owes its current shape to two factors. On the one hand, the place grew when a sugar factory was established in 1869 . After all, the Swedish million dollar program led to a doubling of the population in the 1960s and 1970s. Today the sugar factory belongs to the Danish group Danisco . Other important local employers are Hilti's Swedish head office and the Burlövs Centrum shopping center . A previously important company was Arlöfs Mekaniska Verkstad & Waggonfabrik . The close connection between Arlöv and sugar production is reflected in two statues in and near the central square. The new housing estates of the 1960s set Arlöv apart from many other suburbs in the Malmö- Lund region , which are characterized by single-family houses. The population structure is characterized by a high proportion of immigrants .

The Södra stambana , one of the busiest routes in Sweden , runs through Arlöv . The line is to be expanded to four tracks.
